everyday life.
Life was closely connected to nature, the sea, and the seasons. People woke up early, often before sunrise, to make the most of daylight and avoid the summer heat. There was plenty of work, but it followed a rhythm that was natural and in harmony with the environment.
Agriculture — vineyards, olive groves, and lavender were the foundation of life. Every family had its own piece of land, and working in the fields was a shared responsibility of the entire household. The grape and olive harvests were special events, often accompanied by singing and socializing.
Fishing — the sea was the second pillar of life. People fished early in the morning or at night, and the catch was shared, sold, or exchanged for other necessities. Being a fisherman was one of the most respected professions.
Crafts and trades — stonemasons, coopers, shipbuilders, and shoemakers were an essential part of the community. Each craft had its own masters who passed their knowledge down through generations.
